Els jocs olímpics de Montreal van acabar amb un dèficit de 2.700.000 $. Per sufragar el dèficit els ciutadans de Montreal han estat durant 30 anys pagant una serie d'impostos especials a les begudes alcohòliques i el tabac.

Es mes, l'estadi olímpic de Montreal no es va acabar de construir fins a 10 anys després dels jocs.
